My blog is for sharing my love of music, camping, organizing, crafting, decorating and also vintage.

Hi, I’m Clare. I love to write, sing, play instruments and ruminate. I have many creative interests and a lot of feelings. This blog is the place to share them all. The most consuming and constant of my passions is music, which drives everything.

1965 Bethany Vintage Camper Interior

The Bethany Camper was a perfect fit for our family when we were two. It had everything we needed. We put a tarp on top when it was raining and stayed dry. When it was cold, we zipped our sleeping bags together and stayed warm. It was designed with quirky storage spots and had a lovely, warm light that shone through the canvas. We sold it after taking our (then) infant camping just one time. It was an experience. By that I mean that vintage infant camping was not fun, nor…

New Album Cover! Who’s Pulling My Strings? EP

I’m planning my 2021 EP releases, and I have the cover done for the first. I have 8 songs total to share this year, but I feel like the songs came together into two distinct tones and themes, so I split the group. In this case, the “Who’s Pulling My Strings” EP is hooky, with warm open vocals over rock songs inspired by country, blues and pop. It has a larger sound, with two tracks recorded as a full band.

2001 Volvo to 2002 Chevy Astro Van Tow and Camper Kitchen Set Ups

Today I am feeling hopeful. With the vaccine beginning to be shared, it feels like the beginning of the end. It is a sunny day and relatively warm, but I am dreaming of the weather next summer. And in fact, I have already booked our first camp site for next June, up at Lake Superior, in Cook County. I can’t wait to look at the lake in the morning from the campsite, while we have our coffee and cook breakfast in the open air.

MN Spin and Baidu

MN Spin is the first “real” check that I have gotten for my music. There is something about getting paid that makes me– reluctantly!– see my art as having increased value.

Songs that I Wrote Forever Ago

Now that I am getting ready to release another album, I am feeling sentimental about my birthday, and my EP, Waiting for my Clock. March seems forever ago, with each week in 2020 being so long.

1960’s Bethany Camper Exterior

My husband Ryan and I are the proud parents of a “traveling teepee” camper by Bethany. Bethany was a Minneapolis-based service organization that produced a few thousand campers to earn funding for their missionary work. The camper-fundraiser company is now defunct. The exterior of the camper looks like a little house. To take the cuteness up to eleven, I added farmhouse-like exterior details to the camper: a white picket fence, wrought iron design welcome mat, fake grass, and fake succulent window boxes. The AstroTurf works really well when you are camping…

My 20 minute lunch hopes and dreams

At the beginning of each week, I start teaching with a fresh mindset– the problems of before can be gone, never to come again, if I just change my perspective! That’s it– perspective! It will take away the suffering I see! Perspective will put emotional boundaries up so I don’t take my work home, even just inside my head! Perspective will help me not care about the fact that a student can’t attend X school because a box wasn’t checked on the original paperwork! Sigh. I guess right now I don’t…
